Dusk R&D at Mac Birmingham
The directors travelled to Birmingham’s MAC last week to continue our work on researching ideas for Dusk.We took Jessica Tiller with us who is developing and ultimately making the costumes for the audience members and the performer. We love collaborating with Jess as she is able to respond quickly to anything that comes up during our workshops; tweaking and sewing in situ to adjust the look, the feel, the weight and the fastenings as the children move and play.Big questions for the week: are (most of) the children happy to wear a pair of ears? What is the best way to attach them so that they look authentic and allow the children to feel significantly transformed. How do we allow for the size variations in our audience? As before, much hilarity over the donning of the fantastic tails and always the desire to spin and run with them.Practical question: fastenings - buttons, toggles, zips, buckles, hooks, loops, poppers?Lovely to meet you George Perkins Day Nursery, Allen’s Croft Children’s Centre, the ‘Little Springers’ at Springfield Children’s Centre and West Heath Primary reception class. You all had exciting journeys to get to us: some of you walked, or came on the school minibus and there was much excitement from those who travelled on a double decker bus!
