It was while sitting in a box at the Royal Albert Hall, a man lying at my feet with his hand up a dog’s bottom that I realised the pure joy and slight absurdity of my predicament.
To explain further, I was at the CBeebies Prom sharing a small space with an animated puppet called Dodge and the puppeteer operating it (hence the dog’s bottom).
I have spent over 25 years working with furry creatures, animated characters and occasionally real children in the wonderful world of kids’ TV. As Head of Children’s & Young Audiences at London-based indie Big Little Fish TV, I head up development and production teams creating content gems for “25% of the population now, but 100% of the future” (thank you BFI). I like to think I’m changing lives in my own small, but significant way.
I’ve previously worked with the BBC, ITV, Channel 5, GMTV and Disney, plus various independent production companies on iconic brands like Teletubbies, Art Attack and Doctor Who.
When I’m not doing the day job, I’m writing fiction for children, walking spectacular routes in the UK, and saying “hello” to just about every dog or cat I meet.
